A Message from Aquilino Cabral, Vice President of Operations
As we step into the new year, the Lincoln Square BID is proud to share the strides we’ve made to enhance the vibrancy, safety, and cleanliness of our district this winter season. Here’s a brief look at recent efforts and accomplishments:
Celebrating Our Teams
In December, we hosted a Holiday Appreciation Lunch for our Clean Team members, Green Keepers, and Public Safety Officers. This annual event is a small token of our gratitude for their hard work in maintaining the beauty, cleanliness, and safety of Lincoln Square. Each team member received a gift card as an additional gesture of thanks for their dedication to the district.
Boosting Public Safety
The New York Police Department’s 20th Precinct has received reinforcements, with 15 new officers joining the precinct this month. This follows the addition of 12 officers in November, bringing the precinct’s total to approximately 95 officers. These additions are a welcome enhancement to safety and security for residents, visitors, and businesses alike.
Addressing Quality of Life
Our Public Safety team has been actively tackling quality-of-life concerns, submitting [insert number] 311 reports in December alone. These reports help address issues ranging from street obstructions to other community concerns, ensuring that Lincoln Square remains a safe and welcoming space for all.
Enhancing Trash Collection
In our ongoing efforts to keep Lincoln Square clean and inviting, we’ve added two double-brute trash dollies to our cleaning zones. These innovations help manage trash more efficiently and reduce the number of garbage bags on street corners. We’ve also optimized our cleaners’ schedules to ensure better service during peak times.
Winterizing Landscaping
To maintain the health and appearance of our green spaces, we’ve winterized our landscaping across the district. This preparation ensures our plantings will thrive as we move through the colder months and into spring.
Outdoor Dining Sheds Update
With the winter season upon us, all outdoor dining sheds in Lincoln Square have been removed. This effort helps maintain clear pathways and enhances the district’s aesthetic appeal during this festive time of year.
Looking Ahead
The BID remains committed to ensuring that Lincoln Square is a clean, safe, and vibrant district for everyone who lives, works, and visits here. Thank you to our partners, team members, and the Lincoln Square community for your ongoing support. Here’s to a bright and bustling year ahead!
