Labor Day Alerts

Parking: Alternate side parking regulations and parking meters will be suspended for Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2025. Click here to download the NYCASP calendar.

Trash/Compost/Recycling Collection: There will be no trash, curbside composting, or recycling collection on Monday, September 1, 2025, Labor Day. Residents who normally receive Monday trash, curbside composting, or recycling collection may place their material at the curb Monday evening, for collection beginning Tuesday, September 2. Residents may experience collection delays after the holiday as DSNY works to collect the backlog of material. For questions about Sanitation services and holiday schedules, contact 311 or visit nyc.gov/sanitation.

New Balance 5th Avenue Mile

The New York Road Runners are hosting the New Balance 5th Avenue Mile on Sunday, September 7, at 7:25am. Runners will start on 5th Avenue between East 80th and East 79th Street, finishing near East 60th Street. View the traffic advisory map for all street closures and no parking areas. Coat Drive with the JCC: Assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal is hosting a coat drive with the Manhattan JCC to prepare for the cooler winter months. From Monday, September 8, through Friday, October 24, 2025, you can donate winter coats for children and adults at her district office during the hours of 10:00am – 5:00pm.

Annual Free Flu Shot Day: To prepare for flu season, Assemblymember Rosenthal will hold her annual free flu shot day with Mount Sinai on Monday, September 29, from 10:00am to 1:00pm at her district office. RSVPs are required.

The NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) is offering financial coaching in partnership with Next Street to strengthen small business owners’ business finances.

Small businesses located in NYC can connect with a professional business coach for support in:

  • Separating Personal and Business Expenses
  • Developing Financial Projections
  • Taxes Check-In and Check-Up
  • Understanding Financial Documents
  • QuickBooks® Overview

Space is limited, and appointments will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis while availability lasts. Small businesses may schedule up to two sessions per topic, with a maximum of five total My Business Finance Coach consultations. Learn more and apply here.
